We ate out most nights Mrs G was here. A real change from work and sleep for me. I went from 90 to 95 kg in 2 weeks. This is what we found:

1. Palms Restaurant on Sierra compound

I had a 24 hour bug so we got off to a bad start. Ordered chicken ceasar salad and a burger 🍔 for delivery. Typical compound fare, quickly delivered but nothing special.

2. P F Chang’s on Thalia Street

Part of the Cheesecake Factory chain so Chinese and Japanese fare with more sugar. Mrs Gs first exposure to normal KSA life so much relief that it is – normal. Unusual for me to sit among regular couples in the family section. Good food. Finished with a giant cheesecake to regain my strength.

3. Crowne Plaza Steakhouse

Went with Matt and Mike from work. Great salad 🥗 prepared at table to start. I had lamb chops. Glad I asked for well done as they were perfect. Mrs G had a Canadian steak and loved it. More cheesecake for pud.

4. Red Sea Resort Restaurant

This was actually better than I can describe as I was suffering from eating off the same menu for 2 years. Breakfast was better than I remember. No bugs or digestion problems which was an occasional problem in the past.

5. Chopsticks on Prince Sultan Road

Most bang for your Riyal. This was across the road from the office for 2 years and we had a couple of good parties here. Good Chinese fare. I had Mongolian beef which was great. All the courses arrived at once but great service.

6. Goodies off Tahlia Street

More great food at great value. This time Lebanese. Had the dishes as above plus 3 x shish tauouk sandwiches. Much easier to order than I remember and family section now downstairs. Something different for us and really good.

7. Sakura in the Crowne Plaza

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My favourite. A whole ship 🚢 load of sushi 🍣 for me and a teriyaki salmon steak for Mrs G.
